“Note to God” is a song written by American songwriter, Diane Eve Warren and first recorded by American R&B singer JoJo in 2006 for her album The High Road. The song is partly an emotional prayer with lyrics that are composed of things that could be written in a letter to God.

Warren’s songs have received eight Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations, including one win, and twelve Grammy Award nominations, including one win. She began writing music when she was 11-years-old but took a more serious approach at 14. She was the first songwriter in the history of Billboard to have seven hits, all by different artists, on the singles chart at the same time. In 2001, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

On 18 May 2009, Filipina pop singer Charice performed “Note to God” on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Her recording of the song was produced by David Foster, a Canadian musician, record producer, composer, songwriter, and arranger. The emotionally charged song which brought the studio audience to their feet and Oprah Winfrey to tears was accompanied by an orchestra, David Foster and the Western Michigan University’s vocal jazz ensemble, Gold Company. The song was only released as a digital download but due to high digital sales, it charted in both the United States and Canada. On May 30, 2009, Charice sang the song on the popular Italian television show, Ti Lascio Una Canzone. And On the issue date of June 6, 2009, “Note to God” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 44, while debuting at number 35 on the Canadian Hot 100. The song peaked on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart at number 24, the Hot Digital Tracks chart at number 23, and the Hot Canadian Digital Singles chart at number 9.

Matthew Caldwell "Note to God"Matthew Caldwell enjoys recording music and has been involved in multiple projects. His rendition of “Note to God” is powerful in that it is both passionate and emotional. He doesn’t just sing the words of the song, but he adds heart, soul, and emotion to the song to help get across the message that the song is intended to convey. Matthew is just getting started, but if this song is any indication, he is destined for a great career in the music business. As a person listens to “Note to God” sung by Matthew, it is almost as if he or she can imagine him sitting down and actually writing a heartfelt “Note to God.”
