92 Keys - SugarThe talented music duo comprised of Crista Guthrie and Trevor Loucks (professionally known as 92 Keys) are back with another rousing performance. In a music video which they posted on their YouTube channel on Monday, 22 August 2016, they once again exhibit their musical prowess as they perform an excellent medley of “Sugar” by Maroon 5 and “Sugar, Sugar” by the Archies. Thus far the video has been viewed more than 3,200 times.

The alluring video was filmed in Twin Falls, Idaho. Speaking about the creation of their superb cover and music video, Crista Guthrie commented, “Why not mix oldies with something new? Unfortunately, we did not get to roll around in actual sugar (the sweet grain), but we did score on a magnificently beautiful location! My uncle, Kevin, had great connections with Blue Lakes Country Club, so we were able to access Signature Hole 6 on the golf course that is right off the Snake River and near the iconic Perrine Bridge.” She further commented, “The title and purpose of the song are pretty similar to Maroon 5’s. Thus, the creation of 92 Keys’ “Sugar.”

Pop rock band Maroon 5 recorded “Sugar” for their fifth studio album which is cleverly titled V. The song was written by Mike Posner, Adam Levine, Dr. Luke, and Jacob Kasher Hindlin together with the producers of the album, Ammo, and Cirkut. On 13 January 2015, “Sugar” was sent to contemporary hit radio in the United States as the third single from the album. A remix of the song featuring rapper Nicki Minaj was digitally released on 10 March 2015 via the iTunes Store. “Sugar” is a disco, funk-pop, and soul song that features a broad range of instruments including percussion, keyboards, and guitars.

Originally recorded by the Archies, a bubblegum pop band formed by a group of fictional teenagers in the television cartoon series The Archie Show, “Sugar, Sugar” is a pop song written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim. In 1969, it reached number one in the US on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed there for four consecutive weeks. Also in 1969, the song was also ranked number one on the UK Singles chart for eight weeks running. The song became a hit again in 1970 when rhythm and blues and soul singer Wilson Pickett took it back onto the charts.

92 Keys - SugarCrista Guthrie created the awe-inspiring arrangement for 92 Keys, and she also wrote and recorded the violin portions. Trevor Loucks wrote and recorded the piano parts. When the two powerful sounds collide, the result is, as the French say, extraordinaire. The beautiful scenery used as a backdrop combined with the beautiful music is bound to capture the attention of people of all ages. Without a doubt, Crista Guthrie and Trevor Loucks have scored another homerun with this music video.

We hope that you will take the time to watch this amazing video. You can also help Crista and Trevor make future videos by becoming one of their Patreon supporters.  Their next video is due to be released on 5 September 2016. You won’t want to miss it!
